Halloween, Hunting and Stilts

Yesterday Jen and I were able to get more of the Halloween decorations done. I decided to make the scarecrow into a skeleton and found an old black hooded jacket to put over the frame. Jen commented that black would be lost in the night so she bleached it and did a great job. I love the way this prop looks now. We also dug the front grave and placed Dr. Bones (this is what the kids call our anatomical skeleton) inside. we are just about ready for Halloween.

October is a pretty hectic month. Hunting season opens two weeks from today. My bow is tuned and sighted in. I am hitting a bullseye each time I shoot an arrow even at 30 yards. I will not take a shot more than 30 yards so I don't worry about practicing at greater distances. I bought my license and have my tags and have about 4 locations that I will be hunting this year. Two spots will be perfect for a ground blind so I picked one up. The kids have enjoyed playing with it in the yard. I hope to be posting my first kill for 2008 in two weeks.

Today we built two pairs of stilts. I needed them for cub scouts this coming Wednesday evening. We had a lot of fun trying them out and seeing how good we are at falling!

Todd! You are hectic and busy and crazy in october. Your yard looks professional, maybe in your next life you'll be a prop designer for Disney or maybe in your last life you were a grave digger, just kidding!!!!! Good luck on killing a deer, and do you have it's grave already dug? Everyone in your family appears to be a pro at stilts! Way to go Jen! Every ward needs a great cub scout master, nicely done...along with everything else! Have a fun October, I guess that goes without saying.

Oh, I love you guys!! I only wish I could be driving by your house every day again so I could see your spooky decorations. We sure miss Motown. Especially in the fall.

I was going to take a picture of your Halloween decorations to post on my blog (and to contrast with my pathetic Halloween decorations), but now I can just do a link. Thanks!
